BIP! Services
Amplifying valuable research
BIP! Toolbox is a suite of advanced software components and resources with the aim to assist the discovery of valuable publications, leveraging multi-perspective impact analysis of scientific publications.
BIP! Services is a suite of tools for scientific knowledge discovery, offering impact-aware ranking, filtering, and enrichment functionalities on top of large-scale scholarly knowledge graphs. The suite includes components that calculate and leverage advanced citation-based impact indicators to assist knowledge discovery, and can support tailored exploration scenarios for research communities.

Functionalities
Keyword-based literature search
over scholarly records, via BIP! Finder
Impact-based ranking
of search results using multiple indicators, not just citation count, e.g. traditional impact, influence (PageRank-based), popularity, impulse (early attention).
Display of impact “classes”
percentile-style positioning (e.g., top X%) and how a paper ranks within a topic (useful for niche/specialised papers).
Computation pipeline for impact indicators
via BIP! Ranker (open-source, Spark-based), producing indicators for a very large corpus and reintegrating them into the OpenAIRE Graph/BIP! DB dataset. Use includes deduplication across versions; focus on peer-reviewed citation links.
Domain-specific “BIP! Spaces”
tailored BIP! Finder replicas for specific communities/pilots, providing: preset ranking preferences; query expansion with domain synonyms; domain-specific annotations in results (from the pilot/domain SKGs).
